Discovering Land

"Driving in the Rain"...static...rumble of road noise or thunder...radio excerpts..."I love the rain"...smoooooth guitar...'the flute shouldn't work, but it does'...bowed cymbals and bass...a four-chord jam which cruised the previous summer and became a rich melodic and harmonic tapestry of travel. Just drive...

"Arrogant Man"...aggressive piano...dynamic bass...the old Sinistra menace..."I know who you are"...insistent...persistent...resistant...three chord trick...

"Not There"...swinging...percussive...syncopated Cuban piano..."thought I saw you standing in the darkness"...acoustic...harmonic...gentle, but always watch the quiet ones...

"Waiting"...third-time lucky arrangement...6/8 Maj 7 shuffle...vibratone...jazzy...laid back 'in the crowded waiting room'...long fade...brave to include such a 'new' song in the ensemble...
